Brief Introduction
How many computers are there in my network? What is the correlation between MAC addresses and IP addresses? Who is using which computer? If you are still looking for the answers to these questions, Colasoft MAC Scanner is absolutely the answer finder you need.

How to

Scan the local network
To scan the local network, you only need to specify a local subnet in the blank and click”>”. The scan results will be displayed in a second as shown in figure1.

Add scan results into database
To add a single result you may right click on it and then select”Add to Database”in the popup menu or you may click the”Add”button. Press”Shift”to select consecutive result; to select inconsecutive results press”Ctrl”, “Ctrl+A” or select “Select All” in the right click pop menu to select all results.

Edit scan results and add attributes
Once you have added the scan results in the database, you can directly edit the results and add attributes to these results. To edit the scan results, click on the”Database”tab and double click on the filed you want to modify.

Automatic Comparison
During each scan process. Colasoft MAC Scanner will automatically compare the scan results with that in the database and mark the deference in”Compare Result”column, helping you identify and block outside network equipment.

Export Scan Results
You may choose to export the scan results in txt, csdat, cscntab, and csv formats. You may export one, multiple or all scan results.

Core Values

Scan and list IP addresses and MAC address in seconds

It’s hard to imagine that a network administrator maintains a large network without any knowledge about the MAC address and IP address information of all the network devices. So we all agree that these basic network information are the foundation for a network administrator’s everyday network maintenance work. It takes Colasoft MAC Scanner Pro only seconds to scan all the MAC addresses and IP addresses in the specified subnet and list these addresses in pairs.

What can I do with the scan results? Add to database!

Already get the scan results? Good, but is it still a little bit inconvenient for future reference and maintenance if we do not save these records? Export scan results in file formats (txt, csdat, cscntab, csv) is good, but a database function is even better! Colasoft MAC Scanner Pro supports adding the scan results to a database and allows you do more (add attributes, automatic comparison) with the database records.

Already added scan results to database? Add attributes to the records!

Now all the scan results are saved in the database and ready for future use, in order to make our network maintenance work a lot more efficient, we need to know which network device owns the IP address and the MAC address, where is the network device, and who is the user. With all the information clearly identified, we can easily locate the problem host when a network issue needs to be addressed. Colasoft MAC Scanner Pro allows you to add attributes (host name, user name, location, comments) to the database records.

Start a new scan and find out unauthorized modifications and illegal access!

Who has changed the IP address or the MAC address unauthorized? Who is accessing the local network illegally? To answer these two questions needs only one single click. Colasoft MAC Scanner Pro will compare the new scan results with the database records and indicate the difference. If there is a difference, someone may probably modified IP address or the MAC address unauthorized, or if there is a new scan result, someone may probably accessed the local network illegally.

Needs stronger network maintenance power? Use Capsa!

If you are looking for a powerful and cost-effective network monitoring and network troubleshooting tool, our flagship product – Capsa, a packet sniffer software, is probably your best choice. Colasoft MAC Scanner Pro supports exporting scan results into Capsa’s Name Table, thus building a close and neat interaction with Capsa.

What is Angry IP Scanner?

Angry IP Scanner (or simply ipscan) is an open-source and cross-platform network scanner designed to be fast and simple to use. It scans IP addresses and ports as well as has many other features.

It is widely used by network administrators and just curious users around the world, including large and small enterprises, banks, and government agencies.

It runs on Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X, possibly supporting other platforms as well.

FUTURES:

Angry IP scanner is a very fast IP address and port scanner.

It can scan IP addresses in any range as well as any their ports. It is cross-platform and lightweight. Not requiring any installations, it can be freely copied and used anywhere.

Angry IP scanner simply pings each IP address to check if it’s alive, then optionally it is resolving its hostname, determines the MAC address, scans ports, etc. The amount of gathered data about each host can be extended with plugins.

It also has additional features, like NetBIOS information (computer name, workgroup name, and currently logged in Windows user), favorite IP address ranges, web server detection, customizable openers, etc.

Scanning results can be saved to CSV, TXT, XML or IP-Port list files. With help of plugins, Angry IP Scanner can gather any information about scanned IPs. Anybody who can write Java code is able to write plugins and extend functionality of Angry IP Scanner.

In order to increase scanning speed, it uses multithreaded approach: a separate scanning thread is created for each scanned IP address.

LICENSE

Angry IP Scanner is free and open-source software, so use it at your own risk. The license is GPLv2.

NOTICE

This program is mostly useful for network administrators to monitor and manage their networks.

Please note that while theoretically Angry IP Scanner can be used by crackers, in fact it was not intended for doing so, thus the lack of stealth scanning methods. Please do not consider Angry IP Scanner as a ‘hacktool’ or something similar.
